Their tasks back then were simple — making coffee for clients and binding feasibility studies — but Michi, Flo, and Christian quickly became friends and soon shared the dream of opening their own hotel together one day. After completing their apprenticeships, all three continued their careers in consulting, hotel development, and hotel operations. In 2017, they approached Kai Hollmann — hotelier and real estate investor, known as the creator of the Superbude concept and co-founder of 25hours Hotels — to explore the possibility of bringing Superbude to Vienna.
Kai joined as the fourth entrepreneur and founding investor, and together they became co-shareholders of Superbude GmbH. IG Immobilien, a subsidiary of the Austrian National Bank, provided the investment for the group’s first property. In December 2023, the four friends signed an agreement for their second hotel: a 138-room property at Vienna’s Westbahnhof, set to launch as the new brand The Companion. What unites the four partners is a shared passion for hotels — especially F&B — and a belief in the unique opportunities hidden within every building and project.
